Job summary

AARNet, Australia's Academic and Research Network, is seeking an Accounts Payable Officer to support expenditure management. Reporting to the Accounts Payable Manager, you will handle supplier management, invoice processing, and payment preparation in a dynamic finance team.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in AP, solid ERP experience (TechnologyOne welcome), and strong Excel skills, with keen attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years’ experience within an accounts payable function.
  • Experience processing invoices, payments and reconciliations.
  • ERP systems experience; TechnologyOne is highly regarded.
  • Intermediate Excel/MS Office skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving.
  • Ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and manage tasks independently.
  • Telecommunications/Technology/asset-intensive industry experience is valued.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a sub-section of the accounts payable ledger.
  • Accounts Payable Inbox management.
  • Maintain suppliers, onboarding and ABN, GST checks.
  • Process supplier invoices with three-way matching and coding.
  • Obtain approvals and schedule payments.
  • Handle foreign currency purchases and supplier queries.
  • Assist month end, year end and audit tasks.

The Role: Accounts Payable Officer

The Accounts Payable Officer supports the accurate and efficient management of the expenditure across the organisation. Reporting to the Accounts Payable Manager, the role is responsible for a broad range of accounts payable activities including supplier management, invoice processing and payment preparation.



Key Responsibilities


  • Manage a sub-section of the accounts payable ledger, including:

  • Accounts Payable Inbox Management.

  • Maintaining Suppliers, including onboarding new Suppliers and verifying ABN, GST and bank details.

  • Processing supplier invoices, including three-way matching, coding and discrepancy resolution

  • Obtaining appropriate levels of approval.

  • Scheduling invoices for payment and ensuring payments are fully approved by management.

  • Foreign Currency purchases.

  • Receive and resolve queries from suppliers and/or staff, including reconciliation of statements.

  • Assist other finance team members of the department as and when required, including month end, year end and audit.



Skills, Experience & Qualifications


  • 3-5 years’ experience within an accounts payable function.

  • Demonstrated experience processing invoices, payments and reconciliations.

  • Experience working with ERP systems; TechnologyOne experience would be highly regarded.

  • Intermediate Excel/MS Office skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to prioritise, work to deadlines and mange tasks independently.

  • Telecommunications, Technology or asset-intensive industry experience would be highly regarded.
