Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a motivated accounting/finance student for a structured internship in Melbourne. You will support accounts payable/receivable, cost accounting, tax, and internal controls while performing journal entries and balance sheet analyses.

Responsibilities include month-end tasks, budgeting support, cost analyses, research on GAAP and tax laws, and participation in special projects aligned with SEL values and World Class Manufacturing principles.

Qualifications

• Must be a motivated, self-directed student pursuing an accounting/finance degree.
• Must have strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
• Ability to learn new skills and take on responsibilities.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
• Background check satisfactory to SEL; eligible for internship with at least one year remaining.

Responsibilities

• Support accounts receivable and payable, cost accounting, tax, internal audit, consolidation accounting, and project accounting.
• Perform journal entries, account analyses, reconciliations, and assist month-end close tasks and tax return prep.
• Assist with preparation of financial analysis, budgets, product cost analyses, and other analyses.
• Assist with research and planning per GAAP and current tax laws.
• Assist with special projects and follow SEL Values and World Class Manufacturing Principles.
