Job summary

Sigma Healthcare is seeking a Financial Accountant, Data & Analytics to join our finance team in Australia. You will support period end close, complex group consolidations, and translate large datasets into clear insights for leadership.

The role drives reporting improvements, data integrity and automation across Power BI, Excel and related tools. You will work with a capable team, contribute to statutory statements and management reporting, and develop dashboards that empower business decision

Qualifications

• A relevant degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or Business, with a CA or CPA qualification or current progress towards one.
• At least three years' experience in financial accounting, management reporting, consolidation, financial analysis or a related finance role.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, including period end processes, balance sheet control, consolidations and financial reporting requirements.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables, Power Query, data modelling and report automation.
• Strong analytical and data quality skills, with the ability to reconcile, cleanse and interpret information from multiple systems.

Responsibilities

• Prepare period end journals, accruals, allocations and accounting entries with appropriate support and compliance with Group accounting policies.
• Prepare and review general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations, investigate reconciling items and drive timely resolution.
• Support monthly management accounts, profit and loss reporting and commentary on material movements and unusual transactions.
• Support complex Group consolidation activities, including entity submissions, account mapping, intercompany eliminations, adjustments and validation of results.
• Develop dashboards, financial models and automated reporting solutions using Power BI, Power Query and advanced Excel.

At Sigma Healthcare, our Financial Reporting team supports the integrity, accuracy and transparency of financial information across one of Australia's largest pharmacy networks and a leading national pharmaceutical wholesaling and distribution business. The team works across Finance and the broader business to deliver reliable Group reporting, strengthen financial control and improve reporting through better use of systems, data and analytics.

About the Role

Reporting to the Financial Reporting Lead, the Financial Accountant, Data & Analytics combines technical accounting with data and analytical capability. You will support period end close and complex Group consolidation requirements, improve reporting and controls, and translate large and complex data sets into clear, commercially relevant insights for Finance and business stakeholders.

Role Responsibilities

• Prepare period end journals, accruals, allocations and accounting entries with appropriate support and compliance with Group accounting policies.
• Prepare and review general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations, investigate reconciling items and drive timely resolution.
• Support monthly management accounts, profit and loss reporting and commentary on material movements and unusual transactions.
• Support complex Group consolidation activities, including entity submissions, account mapping, intercompany eliminations, adjustments and validation of results.
• Assist with statutory financial statements, management reporting packs, financial disclosures and supporting schedules.
• Perform analytical reviews of entity and consolidated results to identify inconsistencies, unusual movements and potential reporting errors.
• Analyse large financial and operational data sets to identify trends, anomalies, risks and opportunities and communicate clear insights.
• Extract, cleanse, reconcile and transform data from multiple systems, ensuring alignment with the general ledger and agreed definitions.
• Develop dashboards, financial models and automated reporting solutions using Power BI, Power Query and advanced Excel.
• Support audit requirements and implement improvements that strengthen data integrity, reduce manual effort and accelerate reporting processes.

Who are we looking for?

• A relevant degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or Business, with a CA or CPA qualification or current progress towards one.
• At least three years' experience in financial accounting, management reporting, consolidation, financial analysis or a related finance role.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, including period end processes, balance sheet control, consolidations and financial reporting requirements.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables, Power Query, data modelling and report automation.
• Strong analytical and data quality skills, with the ability to reconcile, cleanse and interpret information from multiple systems.
• The ability to identify unusual trends, inconsistencies and potential accounting or reporting errors through detailed analytical review.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical accounting and analytical findings clearly to non financial stakeholders.
• Experience in a large, complex or ASX listed environment, including multi entity or Group reporting exposure, will be highly regarded.
• Experience with Power BI, SQL, ERP or consolidation systems, financial reporting tools or automated workflows will be highly regarded.
