Job summary

Better Accounting Solutions is seeking a Graduate or Intermediate Accountant to join a growing CPA practice on the Mornington Peninsula, with offices in Rosebud and Tyabb. The role offers full-time or part-time opportunities depending on experience and circumstances.

You will work directly with clients, gain exposure to taxation, accounting and advisory services, and develop your skills in a supportive, cloud-based environment.

Better Accounting Solutions is a growing CPA practice based on the Mornington Peninsula, with offices in Rosebud and Tyabb. We provide accounting, taxation, bookkeeping and advisory services to a broad range of small businesses, family groups and individuals.

We're looking for an Accountant to join our team and are open to applications from:

Recent accounting graduates or final-year accounting students seeking a full-time role and the opportunity to build their career in public practice; or

Accountants with Australian public practice experience seeking a part-time position.

Full-time and part-time opportunities are available depending on the successful candidate's experience and circumstances.

About the Role

As part of our team, you will work directly with clients, gain exposure to a diverse range of businesses, and develop your skills in taxation, accounting and advisory services.

Graduate / Junior Accountants

Responsibilities may include:

• Assisting with financial statement and income tax return preparation

• Preparation of BAS and IAS lodgements

• Client liaison and information gathering

• Assisting with tax compliance work

• Liaising with the ATO and other regulatory bodies

• Supporting clients with Xero and other cloud accounting software

Intermediate Accountants

In addition to the above, responsibilities may include:

• Preparation and review of financial statements and income tax returns

• Managing client relationships

• Assisting with tax planning and advisory engagements

• Providing technical support to the broader team

About You

Graduate / Junior Applicants

• Bachelor of Accounting (completed or nearing completion)

• Strong attention to detail

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Positive attitude and willingness to learn

• Desire to build a long-term career in public practice

Intermediate Applicants

• Previous experience in an Australian public practice accounting firm

• Experience preparing financial statements and income tax returns across a range of entity types

• Sound knowledge of Australian taxation requirements

• Strong organisational and client communication skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Skills & Experience

The following will be highly regarded:

• Experience with Xero

• Experience with Xero Practice Manager (XPM)

• Experience with cloud-based accounting software

• CPA or CA studies (or intention to commence)
