An Intermediate Accountant role in Australian public practice, suited to someone with approximately 2-3 years' experience who has developed a solid foundation in tax and business services and is ready to take the next step in their career by building stronger technical skills, taking greater ownership of client work and progressing towards more senior positions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare financial statements and income tax returns for a diverse range of businesses and entities.
- Preparation and lodgement of BAS and IAS.
- Tax planning preparation and supporting calculations.
- Preparation of FBT returns, TPAR, CGT calculations and other tax-related schedules.
- Liaising with the ATO and other government bodies on behalf of clients.
- Communicating directly with clients to obtain information and resolve queries.
- Working with senior accountants and managers on more complex taxation and advisory matters.
About You
- 2-3 years' experience in an Australian public accounting practice.
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- Commenced or intending to commence the CA or CPA program.
- Experience preparing financial statements and income tax returns.
- Experience preparing BAS/IAS and account reconciliations.
- Good understanding of GST, PAYG withholding, and payroll/superannuation obligations.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, well-supported workpapers.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidence communicating professionally with clients.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Experience with Xero is highly regarded. Exposure to accounting practice management and tax preparation software will also be advantageous.
