Job summary

Sigma Aerospace Group is seeking a hands-on Accountant to support a growing aviation services business on the Sunshine Coast. You will work with the CFO and leadership to deliver robust financial reporting and drive performance across multiple entities involved in aviation, engineering and related services.

The role focuses on month-end, year-end, group consolidations and multi-currency accounting, with responsibility for stock, fixed assets and internal controls.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of post-qualification accounting experience.
• Degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce (essential). CPA/CA preferred but not mandatory.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and general ledger reconciliations.
• Perform month-end and year-end reporting, group consolidations, and multi-currency reporting.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Oversee stock and inventory accounting, fixed assets, and audit support.
• Implement process improvements and strengthen financial controls.
• Collaborate closely with CFO and leadership to support operations across multiple entities.

Role Description

We are seeking a hands-on Accountant to join a growing aviation services business on the Sunshine Coast. Operating across Australia and internationally, the business delivers a range of aviation services, including aerial firefighting, emergency response, aircraft maintenance and infrastructure support.

Working closely with the CFO and leadership team, you will play an important role in financial reporting, business performance and supporting operations across a diverse, multi-company environment.

Your responsibilities will include preparing monthly management accounts, general ledger reconciliations, month-end and year-end reporting, group consolidations, multi-currency reporting, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis. You will also oversee stock and inventory accounting, fixed assets, audit support, financial controls and process improvement.

Essential Requirements

Required Role Experience:

• Minimum 5 years' post-qualification accounting experience, with strong hands-on stock and inventory accounting experience.

Qualifications:

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce (essential).
• CPA or CA qualification preferred but not mandatory.

Skills:

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting, advanced Microsoft Excel skills, and experience using ERP or accounting systems.

Desirable Experience:

• Experience in group consolidations and/or multi-currency accounting, fixed asset accounting, and Microsoft Business Central will be highly regarded. Commercial industry experience in manufacturing, engineering, aviation, wholesale, retail or distribution is desirable. Aviation experience is not essential for candidates with strong relevant commercial experience.
