Job summary

Studyandwork in Sydney is seeking an Accountant to join a Top 100 Australian accounting firm in a full-time capacity. You will work across multiple client matters, building your technical accounting and taxation capabilities.

Working closely with experienced teams, you will prepare accounts, tax returns, and regulatory compliance documents, while delivering high-quality service to a diverse client portfolio. This role offers development opportunities and exposure to advisory work.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline.
• Experience in an accounting practice or commercial accounting environment.
• Understanding of Australian accounting and taxation principles.
• Strong Excel skills and data accuracy.
• Experience with Xero, MYOB or QuickBooks is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Preparing financial accounts and taxation returns for individuals, companies, trusts and other entities.
• Assisting with BAS, IAS and other statutory compliance requirements.
• Performing bank, balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations.
• Maintaining accurate accounting records and supporting month-end processes.
• Assisting with bookkeeping and accounting tasks across a portfolio of clients.
• Preparing financial reports, schedules and supporting documentation.
• Communicating with clients to obtain information and resolve accounting queries.
• Assisting senior accountants and managers with client engagements and advisory work.
• Identifying discrepancies and assisting with the resolution of accounting issues.
• Ensuring work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.
• Keeping up to date with relevant accounting, taxation and compliance requirements.

About the Role

About You

We are looking for someone with:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline.
• Previous experience in an accounting practice or commercial accounting environment.
• Understanding of Australian accounting and taxation principles.
• Experience with accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks or similar.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• A proactive approach and willingness to learn.
• Strong client service and relationship-building skills.

CPA or CA studies, or an interest in pursuing professional qualifications, will be highly regarded.
