Job summary

PedL E-Bikes & E-Scooters, a Sydney-based retailer, is seeking a motivated Accountant (General) to join our team. You will manage financial records, prepare statements and reports, and ensure taxation and regulatory obligations are met while providing management with financial insights.

The role covers ledgers, month-end close, BAS/GST/PAYG, payroll, inventory, and collaboration with external accountants. The ideal candidate holds CPA/CA eligibility and experience in retail or e-commerce, with

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Accounting, Commerce or related field
• Membership, or eligibility for CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants ANZ or IPA
• Experience in general accounting, preferably in retail or e-commerce
• Proficiency with Australian taxation, GST, BAS and payroll requirements; strong Excel & accounting software (Xero, MYOB)

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records and ledgers across retail, online and wholesale channels.
• Prepare financial statements, management reports and budgets; identify trends and risks.
• Lodge BAS, GST, PAYG and other statutory returns in line with ATO requirements.
• Manage accounts payable/receivable, supplier payments and cash flow monitoring.
• Oversee inventory valuation, stocktakes and cost of goods sold, including freight costs.
• Coordinate payroll and superannuation and ensure regulatory compliance.

About the Role

We're looking for a motivated Accountant (General) to join our team in Sydney. You will manage our financial records, prepare accurate statements and reports, and ensure PedL meets its taxation and regulatory obligations, while giving management the financial insight needed to support sound business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, general ledgers and month-end/year-end reconciliations across retail, online and wholesale sales channels
• Prepare financial statements, management reports and budgets, and analyse results to identify trends, risks and opportunities
• Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS), GST, PAYG and other statutory returns in line with ATO requirements
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, supplier payments, payment gateway and marketplace reconciliations, and cash flow monitoring
• Oversee inventory valuation, stocktake reconciliations and cost of goods sold, including imported stock and freight costs
• Coordinate payroll and superannuation obligations and maintain related records
• Ensure compliance with Australian accounting standards, taxation legislation and internal financial controls
• Liaise with external accountants, auditors, banks, insurers and government agencies as required
• Advise management on financial performance, pricing, margins and business planning, and support the improvement of accounting systems and processes

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor degree in Accounting, Commerce or a related field (or equivalent qualification)
• Membership, or eligibility for membership, of CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants ANZ or the Institute of Public Accountants
• Prior experience in a general accounting role, ideally in retail or e-commerce; recent graduates with strong skills are encouraged to apply
• Working knowledge of Australian taxation, GST, BAS and payroll requirementsProficiency in accounting software (e.g. Xero, MYOB or similar) and advanced Excel skills
• Sound numeracy, analytical ability and exceptional attention to detail
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, can-do attitude
• Genuine interest in the e-mobility industry, with a commitment to ongoing professional development
