Job summary

Highland Recruitment is seeking an experienced Accountant based in Bowral to manage the full accounting function for a growing business. The role covers day-to-day accounting, monthly reporting, budgeting, forecasting, tax matters and intercompany accounts.

You will report to the Group CFO, oversee payroll, BAS, and statutory obligations, and work with external accountants and authorities in a hands-on, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Accounting degree and at least five years’ post-qualification experience.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and intercompany loan understanding.
• Experience using MYOB.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Interest in AI tools, including Copilot.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ownership and accountability for outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Manage the general ledger, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Complete bank, balance sheet, international entity and intercompany reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements, including P&L, balance sheet and variance reporting.
• Manage budgets, forecasts, cash flow and payment approvals.
• Oversee payroll, employment contracts and statutory obligations (BAS, FBT, payroll tax, workers’ compensation).
• Collaborate with external accountants, financial institutions, the ATO and ASIC for tax, reporting and company secretarial needs.
• Monitor property expenditure, CAPEX, land tax, council rates and rent invoicing, and support insurance, WHS and inventory management.

Are you an experienced Accountant who enjoys variety, takes ownership and isn’t afraid to roll up your sleeves?

We are seeking a capable and hands on Accountant to manage the full accounting function for a growing business while also providing accounting support across several related entities.

Based in Bowral and reporting directly to the Group CFO, this is a varied role offering exposure to everything from day-to-day accounting and monthly reporting through to budgeting, forecasting, tax matters and international intercompany accounts.

The role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing the general ledger, accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Completing bank, balance sheet, international entity and intercompany reconciliations
• Preparing monthly and quarterly financial statements, including profit and loss, balance sheet and variance reporting
• Managing budgets, forecasts, cash flow and payment approvals
• Overseeing payroll, employment contracts and statutory obligations, including BAS, FBT, payroll tax and workers’ compensation
• Working with external accountants, financial institutions, the ATO and ASIC to meet tax, reporting and company secretarial requirements
• Monitoring property expenditure, CAPEX, land tax, council rates and rent invoicing, while supporting insurance, WHS and inventory management

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A degree in Accounting with at least five years’ post-qualification experience.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and confidence with debits, credits and intercompany loan accounts
• Experience using MYOB
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• An interest in using AI tools, including Copilot
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• The confidence to take ownership of your responsibilities and outcomes
