Job summary

Highland Recruitment is seeking an experienced Accountant to own the full accounting function for a growing business in Bowral. You will provide accounting support across related entities and report to the Group CFO, covering day-to-day accounting, monthly reporting, budgeting and tax matters.

The role includes intercompany reconciliations, payroll oversight, and liaising with external accountants and regulators. A degree in accounting and 5+ years’ PQE are preferred.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting with at least five years’ post-qualification experience.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge with debits, credits and intercompany loan accounts.
• Experience using MYOB.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Interest in AI tools including Copilot.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to take ownership of responsibilities and outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Manage the general ledger, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Complete bank, balance sheet, international entity and intercompany reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, variance).
• Manage budgets, forecasts, cash flow and payment approvals.
• Oversee payroll, contracts and statutory obligations (BAS, FBT, payroll tax, workers’ compensation).
• Coordinate with external accountants, banks, ATO and ASIC for tax & reporting.
• Monitor property expenditure, CAPEX, land tax, council rates and rent invoicing; support WHS and inventory management.

We are seeking a capable and hands on Accountant to manage the full accounting function for a growing business while also providing accounting support across several related entities.

Based in Bowral and reporting directly to the Group CFO, this is a varied role offering exposure to everything from day-to-day accounting and monthly reporting through to budgeting, forecasting, tax matters and international intercompany accounts.

Your responsibilities will include:
