Job summary

Viva Energy Australia is seeking an experienced Accountant to join the Retail Finance team in Australia. You will be the 2IC to the Financial Controller, driving key month-end processes and supporting junior staff.

You will interact with heads of departments, banks and auditors, oversee payroll provisions, and contribute to budgets and forecasts while maintaining rigorous financial controls.

Qualifications

  • Part-way through CA or CPA qualification, or fully qualified, with a minimum of three years' experience in a similar role within industry or professional services.
  • Demonstrated experience working within a high-performing, fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to deliver accurate, high-quality financial accounting outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the month end close process.
  • Responsible for maintaining and overseeing key FSA including Inventories Valuation, Payroll Expenses & Leave Provisions
  • Process journals & accruals
  • Review other finance team members working papers & reconciliations.
  • Oversee the expense and revenue allocations including reviewing P & L’s and GL coding supplier invoices for AP.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and ongoing variance analysis.
  • Assist in the preparation of auditors’ files and liaise with auditors as required.
  • Perform duties of the other accountant when they are on leave.
  • Process owner for Bank & Cash Reconciliations
  • Any other ad hoc duties as and when required by the Financial Controller

Job Description

At Viva Energy Group, we're looking for an experienced Accountant to join our Retail Finance team and play a pivotal role in one of Australia's largest and most dynamic energy and convenience retail businesses.

Being 2IC to the Financial Controller the Accountant will be a key member of a highly dynamic & vibrant finance team.

The role will be responsible for most material financial statement areas of the business as well as drive the month end close process. These elements include but are not limited to Payroll & Leave, P & L Review and support and guidance for more junior team members of the finance team.

The Accountant will also play an active role in assisting the Financial Controller to lead key projects. Whilst the role will initially not have formal direct reports, opportunity to do so in the future is highly likely with support for growth provided. Outside of the finance team the role will have the opportunity to interact with other stakeholders such as heads of departments, banks & auditors.
