Job description

ABOUT SERVICING SA

Servicing SA is a proudly home-grown, 100% South Australian-owned commercial cleaning and facility services business. Since 2009 we have grown into one of the state's trusted service providers, employing more than 350 South Australians and caring for hundreds of sites across metropolitan Adelaide and regional South Australia — including schools, offices, councils and retail centres.

We hold ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environment) and ISO 45001 (Work Health & Safety) certifications, and our promise to clients is simple: we're local, we're affordable and we're professional. Behind that promise sits a supportive, close-knit head-office team at Payneham, minutes from the Adelaide CBD.

THE ROLE

We are seeking an Accountant to join our Finance + Accounts team. Reporting to the Manager, Finance + Accounts, you will collect, record, analyse and report the financial information that supports decision-making across our multi-site business. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting graduate with a solid grounding in accounting principles to build a career in a stable, growing South Australian company, with full support from an experienced team.

Financial reporting
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards and company accounting policies.
  • Prepare management reports and assist in compiling financial reports for presentation to the Directors.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end processes, including reconciliations, accruals, prepayments and journals.
Financial analysis, budgeting & cash flow
  • Analyse financial data to assess the company's financial position and identify where the business generates and loses revenue; provide information for monthly management meetings.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual budgets within company policies and guidelines, and monitor performance against budget.
  • Prepare cash flow reports and customised management reports as required.
Payroll & compliance
  • Assist with the company's tax compliance, including preparation of tax returns in liaison with external accountants.
  • Administer payroll, including timesheet calculations, superannuation and Single Touch Payroll reporting, and reconcile payroll to the general ledger.
  • Review employee expense claims against policy and process reimbursements.
Systems, controls & cash management
  • Examine bank statements daily and reconcile to the general ledger; monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable and report any anomalies to management.
  • Maintain the accounting system and internal controls, advise on the use of accounting software, and ensure accounting data is secure and backed up.
  • Uphold safe work practices, the Employee Code of Conduct and, when required, act as an emergency warden.
ABOUT YOU
Essential
  • A Bachelor of Commerce (*****) degree, or a related degree in Accounting or Finance. Overseas qualifications are welcome.
  • Sound understanding of basic accounting principles and practices, including double-entry bookkeeping, reconciliations and financial statements.
  • Exposure to a business environment, whether through employment, an internship or practical training.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and computerised accounting software.
  • A methodical, deadline-driven approach with a keen eye for detail.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and a willingness to learn.
Advantageous (not essential)
  • Previous experience in a business, accounting or other finance-related role.
  • Experience with accounting packages such as Xero or MYOB.
WHAT WE OFFER
  • A salary of AUD $95,000 per annum plus superannuation.
  • Hands-on exposure to the full accounting cycle, from daily reconciliations to statutory reporting.
  • Guidance and support from an experienced Finance + Accounts team.
  • A stable, 100% locally owned employer with strong business systems and ISO-certified management practices.
  • A friendly, supportive head-office team with clear accountabilities designed to help you succeed.
OUR VALUES
  • Protect and uphold the reputation of our clients
  • Care for the wellbeing of our employees
  • Recognise the achievements of our employees
  • Care for the environment
  • Respond to open and honest communication
  • Always respond with urgency
  • Deliver consistently high standards of service
