Job summary

DFK Gray Perry is seeking an experienced Accountant or Senior Accountant to join our Adelaide CBD team. This full-time role offers a strong opportunity to develop your career within a dynamic accounting firm, delivering comprehensive accounting and advisory services to a diverse client base.

Candidates with SMSF experience will be highly regarded. You will mentor junior staff at senior levels and contribute to client outcomes with technical expertise across business matters.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification in accounting or finance (or equivalent).
• Membership or progress towards CPA/CA or similar is desirable.
• 2–3 years experience for Accountant level; 5+ years for Senior Accountant.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review financial statements, tax returns and records.
• Perform financial analysis and prepare client reports.
• Assist with taxation compliance and planning strategies.
• Support business advisory matters and financial guidance.
• Liaise with clients to understand needs and deliver solutions.
• Manage multiple client engagements and ensure timely delivery.
• Mentor junior staff for Senior Accountant level.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Accountant or Senior Accountant to join our team in the Adelaide CBD. This is a full-time position that offers an excellent opportunity to develop your career within a dynamic accounting firm. You will play a key role in delivering comprehensive accounting and advisory services to our valued clients, providing strategic support and technical expertise across a range of business matters. This position is integral to our growth strategy and will allow you to make a meaningful impact on client outcomes whilst building your professional reputation.

Candidates with Self-Managed Superannuation Fund (SMSF) experience will be highly regarded.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing and reviewing financial statements, tax returns and accounting records for clients
• Conducting financial analysis and producing reports for clients
• Assisting with taxation compliance and planning strategies
• Supporting clients with business advisory matters and financial guidance
• Liaising with clients to understand their business needs and deliver tailored solutions
• Managing multiple client engagements and ensuring timely delivery of work
• Contributing to the development and improvement of internal processes and procedures
• Maintaining professional standards and adhering to relevant accounting and ethical guidelines
• For Senior Accountant level: mentoring and supervising junior staff members as required

What we are looking for

• A relevant tertiary qualification in accounting or finance (or equivalent professional experience)
• Membership or progress towards membership of a professional accounting body (CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, or similar)
• Demonstrated experience in accounting, bookkeeping, taxation or related areas (minimum 2-3 years for Accountant level; 5+ years for Senior Accountant level)
• Strong proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office applications
• Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills
• Solid understanding of taxation and financial reporting requirements in Australia
• Professional communication skills and the ability to build effective client relationships
• Time management abilities and capacity to prioritise multiple tasks
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous learning
• For Senior Accountant level: demonstrated leadership capabilities and experience managing staff or complex client engagements
