Job summary

Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service is seeking an Aboriginal Community Engagement Worker for Balit Ngulu, to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth with safety, wellbeing, and engagement with legal and non-legal services.

The role focuses on culturally responsive case support, court assistance, and building partnerships with community and service providers. Hybrid work is available, and the position emphasizes self-determination and cultural safety.

Qualifications

• Direct work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people.
• Knowledge of access to justice and support services for Aboriginal children.
• Ability to work with courts, police, youth justice and child protection services.

Responsibilities

• Build trusted relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people to support safety and engagement.
• Provide client liaison, advocacy, and warm referrals to ACCOs and services.
• Help young people attend court and participate in proceedings.
