Job summary

NSW Department of Communities and Justice is seeking an Aboriginal Senior Policy and Project Officer in Parramatta to develop and support innovative policies for Aboriginal children and youth. You will lead projects, advise on policy issues, and collaborate with government and non-government partners to reduce overrepresentation in the criminal justice system.

The role is identified for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people, with a temporary full-time appointment until 30 June 2028.

Qualifications

• Excellent knowledge of the NSW criminal justice system, especially Aboriginal children and young people, and the issues contributing to disproportionate participation.
• Experience or qualifications in policy analysis or advisory roles is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Plan, manage and implement research, program reform, innovation and evaluation projects as allocated by the Manager to support the Therapeutic Pathways for Aboriginal Children project.
• Provide high-level policy advice and contribute to state-wide policy frameworks and interventions including briefings, cabinet minutes and correspondence.
• Liaise with stakeholders in the development of NSW criminal justice policies and programs.
• Maintain liaison with community, government and non-government sectors to ensure collaboration on projects.
• Provide secretariat support to senior interagency committees and other groups as required.
• Support management of tender processes and contracts for service delivery to the community.
• Contribute to development, implementation, and maintenance of monitoring and evaluation frameworks for programs.
