Job summary

NSW Health in Wilcannia NSW is seeking an Aboriginal Health Practitioner or Trainee to deliver flexible, holistic health services to Aboriginal clients and the community. You will collaborate with nursing staff in the Emergency Department and MPS Inpatient Unit on a 7-day rotating roster across day, afternoon and night shifts.

The role supports addressing access and equity issues in Aboriginal health at the local level, part of NSW Health’s Far West LHD.

Aboriginal Health Practitioner or Trainee

This position qualifies for an annual Recruitment Incentive Package up to the value of $10,000 (conditions apply and may be pro-rata’d to your contracted or ordinary working hours, these payments are paid on a fortnightly basis) under the

NSW Health Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme.

This scheme recognises the role key health workers play in enabling the delivery of rural and remote health services, and aims to provide incentives over and above award entitlements, to attract and retain staff in these areas.

About Wilcannia

Wilcannia is a small, primarily Aboriginal community in far west NSW situated on the banks of the Darling River. In the heart of the Aussie Outback, life in Wilcannia is quiet, clean and beautiful. The Wilcannia Multi-Purpose Service (MPS) has a 24-hour 2 bed emergency department and 8 residential aged care beds. Wilcannia MPS has been providing care to the local community for over 140 years. As we work in partnership with the RFDS and Maari Ma the position provides opportunity to learn how to work with other healthcare organisations.
