Job summary

Mid North Coast Local Health District in NSW is seeking an Aboriginal Cultural Capability Facilitator to strengthen cultural capability, safety and responsiveness across the Health Agency. Working with the Aboriginal Cultural Capability Team Leader, you will coordinate training, deliver bespoke initiatives and improve outcomes for staff and Aboriginal communities.

Qualifications

• Experienced Aboriginal cultural capability professional with training and workforce development experience.
• Strong understanding of Aboriginal culture, history and health system impacts.
• Skilled at facilitating training and group discussions with diverse audiences.
• Willing to travel across Health Agency sites, including overnight travel when required.

Responsibilities

• The Aboriginal Cultural Capability Facilitator plays a key role in strengthening cultural capability, safety and responsiveness across the Health Agency.
• The position champions culturally safe and inclusive practices and supports employees at all levels to develop greater awareness, understanding and confidence when working with Aboriginal people, communities, patients and colleagues.
• A key focus of the role is the coordination, delivery and continuous improvement of the Respecting the Difference Aboriginal cultural training program, as well as the development and facilitation of bespoke cultural capability initiatives.
• This includes coordinating training, facilitating engaging learning sessions, evaluating outcomes and preparing reports to demonstrate impact and identify opportunities for improvement.
• The position builds strong relationships with Aboriginal communities and works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders across NSW Health to develop and implement initiatives that drive meaningful and sustainable cultural change.
• The role also supports and empowers Aboriginal employees while contributing to strategies that enhance organisational inclusion and cultural safety.
