Job summary

Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service (VALS) is seeking a Bail and Remand Support Coordinator to work across the Mildura region. The role provides intensive, short-term support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adults on bail, helping them navigate housing, transport, health and community services, and other supports to meet bail conditions.

Qualifications

• Experience in case work, case coordination or client support.
• Experience with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and communities.
• Understanding bail and remand and how these systems affect clients and families.
• Ability to manage high-risk situations and coordinate practical support.

Responsibilities

• Identify barriers to bail compliance and provide immediate support after release.
• Coordinate referrals to Aboriginal-led and mainstream services.
• Undertake housing advocacy and brokerage coordination.
• Provide practical assistance (transport, phones, material assistance).
• Maintain accurate case notes and contribute to program data.
