Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Undertaking electrical maintenance, repairs and fault finding across commercial and council facilities.
• Installing and upgrading sports lighting, park infrastructure and outdoor electrical systems.
• Completing commercial electrical installations, MSB replacements, distribution board upgrades and EV charger installs.
• Working on underground infrastructure, conduit installs and trenching with excavation equipment.
• Testing, inspections and preventative maintenance.
• Working independently or with other electricians and apprentices.
• Coordinating with clients and facility managers to ensure safe, efficient work.

Wallgates Electrical Services is an established, family-owned electrical contracting business based in Rowville, servicing Melbourne's metropolitan area and surrounding regions. We provide a diverse range of electrical services, predominantly for local government and commercial clients. Our work takes us from sporting reserves, parks and outdoor facilities through to aquatic centres, offices, community buildings and other operationally sensitive environments. We're looking for two qualified A-Grade Electricians to join our team. Whether you've recently completed your apprenticeship or have several years of experience behind you, we'd love to hear from you.

Key responsibilities

• Undertaking electrical maintenance, repairs and fault finding across commercial and council facilities
• Installing and upgrading sports lighting, park infrastructure and outdoor electrical systems
• Completing commercial electrical installations, main switchboard (MSB) replacements, distribution board upgrades and EV charger installations
• Working on underground electrical infrastructure, including conduit installations, trenching and working alongside excavation equipment and machinery
• Undertaking testing, inspections and preventative maintenance
• Working independently or alongside other electricians and apprentices
• Communicating with clients, facility managers and other trades to coordinate work safely and efficiently

About you

• A current Victorian A-Grade Electrical Licence
• Experience in commercial electrical installations, maintenance or a related field
• Sound technical knowledge and a commitment to safe, quality workmanship
• A practical, solutions-focused approach to your work
• A willingness and ability to undertake physically demanding outdoor work when required
• Good communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with clients
• The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• A genuine willingness to learn, adapt and take on different types of work
• A current driver's licence
• Hourly rate from $45, with remuneration reflecting your experience and demonstrated capability
• Monday to Friday, 40-hour working week with an accrued monthly RDO
• Regular opportunities for overtime, depending on workload
• Opportunities for night and weekend work where projects require after-hours access
• Optional opportunities to attend emergency after-hours call-outs, subject to availability and interest, without a compulsory on-call roster
• Employment under the Electrical, Electronic and Communications Contracting Award, with applicable overtime, penalty rates and allowances
