Zoom Recruitment is seeking an A Grade Electrician for its Laverton North operation. This permanent full-time role involves maintaining and improving plant reliability across a large manufacturing site and providing technical support to the maintenance team.

You will perform preventative and breakdown maintenance, troubleshoot electrical faults, and support safe operation of conveyors and production machinery. The role requires LV/HV experience, PLC fault-finding, and a strong safety mindset.

Qualifications

• Australian-recognised trade qualification is required.
• Current Victorian A Grade Electrical License is essential.
• Minimum 5 years in industrial/manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and breakdown maintenance on plant and equipment.
• Diagnose and rectify electrical faults to minimize production downtime.
• Support the safe and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment.
• Maintain and troubleshoot conveyors, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Carry out machinery servicing and performance optimization.
• Provide technical support and guidance to operational teams.
• Assist with electrical installations, upgrades, and equipment modifications.
• Complete maintenance documentation and reporting requirements.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and site standards.

Our client is a leading Australian steel manufacturer, producing a diverse range of steel products including reinforcing bars, angles, and channels. Operating from a state-of-the-art facility in Laverton North, the site includes a Melt Shop, Bar Mill, Rod Mill, Billet Yard, Warehouse, and Maintenance departments.

About the Role

As an A Grade Electrician, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving plant reliability across a large-scale manufacturing operation. Working within a skilled maintenance team, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of electrical equipment and production machinery.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess strong industrial electrical experience and a proactive approach to maintenance and fault finding.

Skills & Experience

• Minimum 5 years' experience within an industrial, manufacturing, or heavy industry environment.
• Strong fault-finding, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
• Hands-on experience with both Low Voltage (LV) and High Voltage (HV) systems.
• Motor control wiring and fault-finding experience.
• PLC fault-finding and diagnostic experience.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and leadership qualities.
• Reliable, safety-focused, and committed to high-quality workmanship.
• Australian-recognised Electrical Trade Qualification.
• Current Victorian A Grade Electrical License.
• Flexibility to work across various shifts as required.

Desirable Qualifications

• Confined Space Entry certification.
• Elevated Work Platform (EWP) license.
• Electrical switching certification.
