Job summary

Civmec Construction & Engineering Pty Ltd in Gladstone, Queensland, is seeking a skilled Special Class Welder for our workshop. You will deliver high-quality welding on fabrication and maintenance projects in line with Australian Standards, with continuity of work and a full-time contract.

The role requires passing 6G FCAW/GMAW (STT) and GTAW, interpreting drawings, operating a workshop crane, and contributing to a safe, detail-oriented team environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to pass 6G FCAW/GMAW (STT), GTAW.
• Interpret fabrication drawings and specifications.
• Operate safely within a busy workshop environment.

Responsibilities

• Apply welding techniques including FCAW, GTAW, and GMAW (STT).
• Interpret engineering and detail fabrication drawings and specifications.
• Mark out steel components in accordance with drawings and standards.
• Comply with Quality Control systems and processes.
• Conduct visual inspection of welds between runs and at completion.
• Complete 6G weld tests to demonstrate welding competency.
• Operate workshop overhead crane safely and efficiently.
• Maintain consumables and welding equipment to standard.
• Ensure compliance with current Australian Welding Standards.
• Support a small team environment with attention to detail.
• Provide quality workmanship across all fabrication tasks.
• Maintain a safe and organised workshop work area.
