Job summary

Small Animal Specialist Hospital Prospect NSW is seeking an experienced Veterinary Nurse to join the Emergency & Critical Care (ECC) Team in a fast-paced, 24/7 emergency setting. You’ll work with a dedicated specialist team on a diverse caseload, providing high-level patient care, triage and critical support throughout the SASH journey.

We offer paid CE, internal training and genuine career growth within a state-of-the-art hospital, with shifts that include evenings, overnights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent).
• Minimum 2 years’ full-time nursing experience.
• Genuine interest in Emergency & Critical Care and involvement throughout SASH journey.
• Experience prioritising tasks in a busy clinical environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with clients.

Responsibilities

• Build confidence across advanced veterinary nursing skills.
• Care for patients with indwelling devices and monitoring.
• Assist CPR and urgent emergency care when needed.
• Support admissions and discharges across ICU/ER/wards.
• Collect and process laboratory samples for analysis.
• Assist with referrals of critical cases from clinics.
• Triage patients and assist with anesthesia in collaboration with anesthetists.
• Maintain accurate documentation and records.
