Scalapay is hiring two experienced Full-Stack Software Engineers to join our Experiences and B2B Platform teams. You’ll design, develop, and maintain scalable AI-first web applications using Node.js, TypeScript, and React.js.

You’ll work with both MySQL and NoSQL databases, and leverage NestJS and Next.js to build robust backend and frontend systems. You’ll write clear specifications for AI agents, review outputs, and contribute to agile ceremonies, CI/CD, and performance optimisation while

• Minimum 5 years of professional development experience, ideally in high-volume financial/transaction environments (payments, e-commerce).
• Hands-on experience with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, and spec-driven development: writing clear specifications and designs, then directing/reviewing/testing agents.
• Strong knowledge of Node.js, TypeScript, and React.js.
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases (MySQL, DynamoDB, Redis).
• Experience with frameworks like NestJS and Next.js.
• Solid Agile methodologies experience; Git proficiency.

About the role

At Scalapay, AI-first is how we work every day, not a slide in a strategy deck. You'll write sharp specs and technical designs, AI coding agents like Claude Code take on the heavy lifting, and you direct, review and test what they produce. You spend less time on boilerplate and more on what great engineers do best: architecture, tricky problems, and making things fast, robust and scalable.

This role will be integral in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and efficient applications leveraging AI.

What You'll Do

• AI Spec-Driven Development: Write clear specifications and technical design documents that AI coding agents implement from, then direct, review and test what the agents produce.
• Application Development: Design, develop, and maintain high-quality web applications using Node.js, TypeScript, and React.js.
• Database Management: Work with both relational (e.g MySQL) and non-relational (e.g., Dynamodb, Redis) databases, ensuring efficient data storage and retrieval.
• Testing: Write unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and robustness. Experience with frameworks such as Jest, or similar.
• Framework Utilisation: Leverage modern frameworks like NestJS and Next.js to build scalable and maintainable backend and frontend architectures.
• Code Review: Participate in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback to maintain high code standards.
• Agile Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment, contributing to sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Performance Optimisation: Optimise applications for maximum speed and scalability.
• Continuous Integration & Deployment: Work with CI/CD tools to automate testing, building, and deployment processes.
• Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to understand requirements, share knowledge, and deliver high-quality software

What We're Looking For:

• Experience: Minimum 5 years of professional development experience ideally within a high volume financial transactional environment (payments, e-commerce)
• AI-Assisted Development: Hands-on experience with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, and a spec-driven way of working: writing clear specifications and technical designs first, then directing, reviewing and testing what the agents produce.
• Proficiency: Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and React.js.
• Database Skills: Extensive experience with both relational and non-relational databases.
• Testing: Proven experience in writing unit and integration tests.
• Frameworks: Experience with frameworks like NestJS and Next.js.
• Methodologies: Solid experience working with Agile methodologies
• Version Control: Proficient in using Git for version control.
• Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and creatively.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Team Player: Ability to work well in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Cloud Experience: Experience with cloud platforms like AWS or similar is a plus.
• DevOps Knowledge: Familiarity with DevOps practices, containerization (Docker) is a plus.
• Microservices Architecture: Experience in designing and implementing microservices-based systems.
• CI/CD Tools: Experience with CI/CD tools like Buildkite or similar.
