Organisational Unit
Democracy is more than a system of governance and more than just a buzzword.
Democracy is a dynamic way of life; it is shaped through communication, lived and experienced sensually, and realized in everyday actions. Current upheavals, crises, and tendencies toward the de-democratization and de-solidarization of society and politics demonstrate that democratic action must be continually re-examined—socially, politically, and personally. In this sense, the Forum for Democracy Research at the University of Graz sees itself as a place for research, teaching, public engagement, and democratic education—an integrative space for dialogue at the intersection of academia and the public. The aim is to bring together scientific, public, and everyday discourse on democracy, on what is democratic, and on democratization within a democratic space.
