Zusammenfassung

Die Universität Innsbruck sucht eine/n Universitätsassistent/in in der Kultur- und Sozialanthropologie. Diese Teilzeitstelle bietet die Möglichkeit, ein eigenes Dissertationsthema zu entwickeln und aktiv an Forschungsprojekten der Health Matters Gruppe teilzunehmen. Voraussetzungen sind ein abgeschlossenes Masterstudium sowie exzellente Englischkenntnisse. Die Anstellung erfolgt vorerst für 1,5 Jahre, mit Möglichkeit auf Verlängerung auf bis zu 4 Jahre. Flexible Arbeitszeiten und ein unterstützendes Team runden das Angebot ab.

Qualifikationen

  • Abgeschlossenes Masterstudium in Kultur- und Sozialanthropologie.

  • Hervorragende Englischkenntnisse (C1) sind zwingend erforderlich.

Your personal sphere of influence:

As a University Assistant Praedoc, you will pursue a PhD under the supervision of Janina Kehr at the Institute of Cultural and Social Anthropology with a topic of your own choice and join the Health Matters research group . The topic of the PhD should be within the focus areas of our research group, which include critical medical anthropology, global health and feminist science and technology studies. Geographically, the PhD topic should be related to Latin America or Spain.

As part of the Faculty of Social Sciences, the Institute of Cultural and Social Anthropology not only brings together renowned scientists and students, but also different research areas, a variety of ethnographic methods, a large number of outstanding research projects and appreciative collegial exchange.

The duration of the contract is 4 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship will be automatically extended to 4 years if the employer does not submit a declaration of non-renewal within the first 12 months.

The position is a part-time employment of 30h/week.

You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:

  • You will be proactively involved in the Health Matters research group and the Institute of Cultural and Social Anthropology
  • You will work on and complete your dissertation
  • You will complete your dissertation agreement within 12-18 months
  • You will present your research at national and international conferences, meetings and symposia
  • You will be involved in the organization of workshops, meetings, conferences, book clubs, symposia and third-party funding applications in collaboration with the Health Matters team
  • You will independently teach courses at the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement
  • You will provide support in student supervision
  • You will be involved in evaluation measures and quality assurance
  • You will take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and third mission
This is part of your personality:
  • Completed Master’s/Diploma degree in cultural and social anthropology or a related discipline
  • Experience with ethnographic field research and academic writing
  • The following are also desirable: initial teaching experience, experience with e-learning, knowledge of university procedures and structures, experience abroad, basic knowledge of medical anthropological issues, IT skills
  • Excellent knowledge of English (C1) is a must, knowledge of German and Spanish is an advantage
  • You are an understanding and committed person with excellent social and communication skills who enjoys working both independently and collaboratively
