At the Centre for Teacher Education at the University of Vienna, the Austrian Competence Centre for Biology (AECC Biology) focuses on the scientific aspects of teaching and learning in the subject of Biology. Through innovative, practice-oriented, and national as well as international research, teaching, and development projects, we contribute to the advancement of biology education in schools and other educational institutions. Current research areas of our team include scientific inquiry, Nature of Science (NOS), Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), environmental education and climate change education, plant- and insect awareness. We are looking for a dedicated PhD candidate (Prae doc, 4 years) who will complete a PhD in the framework of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), environmental education and climate change education with a focus on the current biodiversity and climate crisis.
The employment duration is 4 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 4 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-extension declaration.
The position shall be filled with effect from 1 June 2025.
Completing of a dissertation agreement in the field of the AECC Biology's current research foci in ESD/Environmental Education/Climate Change Education, preferably with a focus on the current biodiversity and climate crisis, within 12-18 months is expected.
