Zusammenfassung

Jobtailor collaborates with the Brain and Language Lab in Vienna to host a doctoral researcher focused on cognitive neuroscience of language. The project covers data analysis, neuroimaging and behavioural studies, with opportunities for teaching, supervision and international publications.

The successful candidate will complete a dissertation within 12–18 months, present at conferences and participate in the Vienna Doctoral School training program while conducting independent, high-quality

Qualifikationen

• Completed Master’s degree or equivalent in psychology, biomedical engineering, cognitive neuroscience, neuroscience, cognitive science, computer science, data science, physics or another relevant discipline
• Applicants from other disciplines must demonstrate substantial preparation in cognitive neuroscience and quantitative methods through training and research
• Evidence of research in cognitive neuroscience with empirical behavioural and/or neuroscientific data
• Strong programming skills for scientific data analysis with Python, R, MATLAB or similar
• Strong background in statistics and quantitative methods with practical data experience
• Experience with experimental design, data processing and complex data interpretation
• Experience in scientific writing and research methods, e.g., empirical Master’s thesis
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills
• Motivation to complete a doctoral dissertation and contribute to lab and teaching
• Desirable: MRI/EEG/MEG experience; neuroimaging analysis; ML or computational modelling; HPC and reproducible research; language-related research; teaching or supervision; German language is a plus

Requirements

• Applicants from other disciplines must demonstrate substantial preparation in cognitive neuroscience and quantitative methods through subsequent training and research experience
• Research experience in cognitive neuroscience, including empirical behavioural and/or neuroscientific data
• Strong programming skills for scientific data analysis with Python, R, MATLAB or a comparable language
• Strong background in statistics and quantitative research methods, with practical experience applying statistical methods to empirical data
• Experience with experimental design, data processing and interpretation of complex datasets
• Experience in scientific writing and research methods, such as through an empirical Master’s thesis
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills
• Strong motivation to complete a doctoral dissertation and contribute to lab and departmental research and teaching
• Desirable: practical experience with structural or functional MRI, EEG or MEG
• Desirable: neuroimaging analysis, functional or structural connectivity, computational morphometry or signal processing
• Desirable: multivariate statistics, machine learning or computational modelling
• Desirable: Linux, high-performance computing, version control and reproducible research practices
• Desirable: research on language, reading, auditory processing, multilingualism, individual differences or dyslexia
• Desirable: teaching, student supervision or research communication
• Knowledge of German or willingness to acquire German-language skills is desirable but not required
