Your personal sphere of play:Your future position is at the Department of Geography and Regional Research in the working group Economic Geography, which focuses on theory-led, evidence-based, and policy relevant research on spatial aspects of innovation-based socio-economic sustainability transitions. Our research priorities include green and just industrial transitions; climate change adaptation; global value chains; and place-based challenge-oriented innovation strategies and policies.Our academic staff and students appreciate our internationality, opportunities to take part in outstanding research projects, and interdisciplinary cooperation.This position is limited to 6 years and would ideally be filled 01.10.2025 - 30.09.2031.Your future tasks:Active participation in research, teaching & administration, which means:You build up an independent research profile and are involved in research projects in the fields of economic geography, geography of innovation and sustainability transitions, and similar.You publish internationally and give lectures.You apply for projects and raise third-party funds.You hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.You supervise students.You participate in evaluation measures and in quality assurance.You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration.

This is part of your personality:Completed doctoral/PhD studies in the field of Economic/Human Geography or a related disciplineOutstanding dissertationResearch competence in the field of geography of innovation and sustainability transitions proven through international publications in peer-reviewed journalsSkills in qualitative and/or quantitative methodsExperience in acquiring third party fundingExperience in teaching and supervision of students; didactic skillsExcellent command of written and spoken EnglishTeam player and high social/communicative skillsWillingness to contribute to science management
