The University of Vienna invites applications for a postdoctoral position in Mathematics. The Faculty of Mathematics is the largest Austrian institution of mathematical research and tertiary education in the mathematical sciences. The Institute of Mathematics represents the discipline across research and teaching, integrating pure and applied fields. This is a temporary University Assistant (Postdoc) position in the research team around Univ.-Prof. Adrian Constantin, PhD.
Your professional field of activity
You will complement the research team around Univ.-Prof. Adrian Constantin, PhD. Our ideal candidate has a strong interest in Mathematical Analysis with a background in Partial Differential Equations and Dynamical Systems, can integrate into the team, contribute independently to current research, and take responsibility for results. This is a temporary position limited until 31.12.2027.
Our research focuses on Mathematical Analysis. We value a positive, inclusive, and respectful working environment with regular group meetings to discuss current topics and projects.
Your future tasks
Active participation in research, teaching, and administration, including:
- Collaboration and research in the field of partial differential equations: identify and address research questions, contribute to innovative development, and be an active member of the "Analysis, Geometric Structures and Mathematical Physics" key research area.
- Interdisciplinary collaboration: participate in international scientific collaborations, conferences, and workshops.
- Collaboration in teaching and administration: participate in administration, teaching and research; teach courses and examinations according to the collective bargaining agreement and supervise students (co-)supervise as appropriate.
Required Qualifications / Position Requirement
- Doctorate in mathematics or a related field completed and certificate provided before the start of the contract
- Emphasis in Mathematical Physics and Partial Differential Equations
- Research competence and initiative demonstrated through international publications in peer-relevant venues
- Excellent command of English, written and spoken
- Team player with high social and communicative competence and international experience
- Goal-oriented with strong motivation for scientific excellence
- Not entitled to compensation for travel and accommodation expenses incurred in connection with the admission process
