A leading research university in Graz seeks an Assistant Professor in Sustainable Catalysis to enhance research and teaching in the Department of Chemistry. Candidates should possess a doctorate in Chemistry or Materials Science and have substantial research qualifications. The role emphasizes collaboration within academia and a commitment to teaching in both English and German. The position includes a six-year tenure phase leading to a possible permanent Associate Professor position.
The position is based in the research group “Sustainable Catalysis” and is intended to strengthen research activities in this field and contribute to teaching in the Department of Chemistry. The successful candidate starts as an Assistant Professor with a six-year fixed-term tenure phase. Upon successful completion of qualification goals, the position will be converted into a permanent Associate Professor position. The research core area is in sustainable catalysis (homogeneous/heterogeneous) for plastics recycling and upcycling, aligned with circular bio-based and plastics economy concepts. The candidate is expected to collaborate within the Department of Chemistry and the University’s Field of Excellence Climate Change Graz, as well as with partners in the interuniversity NAWI Graz project.
The successful candidate will be highly motivated, aiming for academic excellence and integrity in research and teaching. He/she will have demonstrated ability to collaborate constructively in a responsible manner and inspire colleagues and students in an interdisciplinary, internationally oriented context.
