Job Description

The Team

The Indirect subdomain provides access to SEEK's employment marketplace for hirers that use third-party HR software. The Indirect Platform team builds and runs our integration platform, centrally solving cross-cutting problems across integration experiences. We're responsible for foundational services such as the GraphQL API interface, webhooks, authentication and authorisation systems, developer documentation and tooling, hirer and partner onboarding processes, and internal support tools. Our mission is to enable the subdomain to efficiently deliver new integration features while satisfying organisational and compliance requirements, making us the backbone of seamless integrations and partnerships across the SEEK ecosystem.

About the role

We are seeking an experiencedStaff Engineerto lead our technical initiatives and grow our engineering culture. In this pivotal role, you will drive architectural decisions, shape technical roadmaps, and provide expert guidance on feasibility and design considerations. You will play a key part in ensuring the technical integrity and quality of all deliverables while mentoring and supporting the growth of junior engineers. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of scalable, high-quality software development.

Responsibilities

• Ensure systems are scalable, secure, and aligned with SEEK’s architecture and technical standards.
• Champion DevOps culture and uplift engineering practices across teams.
• Lead resolution of production incidents and drive platform health.
• Write clean, secure, well-tested code using modern tools and patterns.
• Partner with Engineering Managers on planning, prioritisation, and risk management.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across Architecture, Product, and Security to deliver technical solutions.
• Foster talent retention and support effective growth of engineers in the team.

Qualifications

Skills and experience

• Proven experience developing and maintaining system or platform health aligned to key technical metrics;
• Experience leading the creation and execution of technical roadmaps in collaboration with senior stakeholders;
• Strong technical decision-making skills with a track record of delivering outcomes end-to-end;
• Ability to influence and negotiate effectively with senior technical and non-technical stakeholders;
• Experience guiding and mentoring engineers, supporting their growth and career development;
• Contributions to technical transformation initiatives within teams or across organisations; and
• Active engagement in recruiting, growing, and connecting engineers to internal or external communities.
