Job summary

ALDI SÜD HOLDING is seeking an experienced FP&A/Performance Analytics professional to own and enhance our global analytical framework for store performance. You will identify patterns and gaps across portfolios, translate findings into actionable recommendations, and validate insights with country teams.

You will craft management-ready narratives using Power BI and SAP data, focusing on data quality and repeatable methodologies, while influencing stakeholders across international teams.

Qualifications

• Several years of experience in controlling, FP&A, commercial analytics or performance management.
• Degree in business, finance, economics, business analytics, data science or a comparable discipline.
• Strong track record of analysing large heterogeneous datasets and translating findings into commercial insights.
• Advanced knowledge of Power BI (data modelling, Power Query and DAX) and strong Excel skills; SAP SAP BW and/or S/4HANA experience is valuable.
• Solid understanding of store economics and key retail drivers such as sales density, gross margin, labour productivity, occupancy costs and contribution profitability.

How You’ll Make Your Mark

• You’ll own and continuously enhance the global analytical framework for store performance, ensuring that financial and operational KPIs are defined consistently and remain comparable across countries, store formats and maturity stages.
• You will analyse large store portfolios to identify patterns, outliers and structural performance gaps, separating controllable operational drivers from market, format, location and maturity effects.
• As part of the role, you will assess performance potential at store, cluster, region and country level, and prioritise opportunities based on value, feasibility and expected business impact.
• You’ll build clear driver trees and explain variances across sales, gross profit, labour productivity, operating costs, inventory losses and store contribution.
• You are expected to partner with country Finance and Operations teams to validate findings, understand local context, and convert analysis into practical improvement hypotheses and measurable follow-up actions.
• You will develop global benchmarks, peer groups and advanced analyses, including store ramp-up curves, portfolio segmentation, trend and cohort analysis, and scenario-based business cases.
• You’ll be tasked to design management-ready performance narratives using Power BI, SAP and other relevant data sources, with strong emphasis on data quality, transparent methodology and repeatability.
• As part of the role you will provide concise, fact-based recommendations to senior stakeholders and contribute to the further development of global performance steering standards and reporting solutions.

Your Profile

• You possess several years of relevant experience in controlling, FP&A, commercial analytics or performance management, ideally in grocery retail, multi‑site retail or another operational network business.
• You have completed a university degree in business administration, finance, economics, business analytics, data science or a comparable discipline.
• You bring a strong track record of analysing large and heterogeneous datasets, identifying root causes and converting findings into commercially relevant recommendations.
• You bring advanced knowledge of Power BI, including data modelling, Power Query and DAX, as well as strong Excel capabilities. Practical experience with SAP, SAP BW and/or S/4HANA is highly valuable.
• You have a sound understanding of store economics and key retail drivers such as sales density, gross margin, labour productivity, shrink, occupancy costs, store maturity and contribution profitability.
• You can distinguish correlation from causation, challenge data and assumptions constructively, and communicate limitations transparently.
• You feel confidence in working with international stakeholders, balancing global comparability with local business realities, and influencing without direct authority.
• Excellent English skills. German is an advantage but not essential.
