Your mission

As a software engineer in Bitpanda’s Trade Hub you will design, build, and scale the core systems that power our trading ecosystem end‑to‑end— from pricing and execution to portfolio lifecycle, asset infrastructure, hedging, and prime services. You will work on highly available, low‑latency back‑end services that handle order flow, market data, risk, balances, assets, and exposure management at scale.

What you’ll do

• Design and develop scalable, resilient message‑driven services using Java.
• Write clean, test‑driven code with high unit test coverage and perform end‑to‑end and integration testing before deployment in an event‑driven microservices architecture.
• Optimize payment modules and services to ensure reliability, maintainability, performance, and scalability.
• Drive innovation by researching and adopting the latest trends and technologies in back‑end development.

Who you are

• Knowledge and experience of software development using modern frameworks such as Spring Boot, with Java as your main programming language.
• Understanding of relational and non‑relational databases, with experience in Postgres and MongoDB preferred.
• Experience creating and maintaining publicly available REST APIs, with a focus on performance and scalability.
• Practical knowledge of message‑oriented middleware (e.g., Apache Kafka or ZeroMQ) for event‑driven microservices.
• Understanding of CI/CD and familiarity with AWS and Kubernetes; experience with other public clouds is acceptable.
