Job summary

Lam Research AG in Villach, Austria, is seeking a Software Support and QA Engineer to troubleshoot and debug software, ensuring seamless integration with hardware across our design and production platforms.

Responsibilities

• Perform troubleshooting of system software related issues.
• Provide in-house and onsite support of customer install base and resolve issues.
• Test, troubleshoot and clearly propagate errors to SW and HW development engineers.
• Set up and maintain tool simulators, testing environments and lab support to reproduce issues and verify SW solutions.
• Understand customer technology and productivity needs and relay requirements into software development.
• Prepare presentations for Lam internal stakeholders and customers; travel worldwide up to 25%.

The impact you'll make

As a Software Support and QA Engineer at Lam, you will be at the forefront of innovation by troubleshooting and debugging software programs. Your role is pivotal in developing software tools that support design, infrastructure, and technology platforms. Your expertise will determine hardware compatibility and influence design, ensuring seamless integration between software and hardware.

In this role, you'll make an impact across Lam's entire product portfolio of equipment working within our centralized software engineering team, collaborating with some of the brightest minds in the industry.

What you'll do

• be involved in all phases of the software development (SW) lifecycle, including the testing, analysis and maintenance of the software system
• participate in the SW deployment process ensuring qualified Software Products are successfully installed at our customer's facilities
• perform troubleshooting of system software related issues
• perform in-house & onsite support of customer install base and resolution of customer issues
• test, troubleshoot and propagate errors clearly to SW and HW Development Engineers
• setup and maintain tool simulators, testing environments, lab support to reproduce issues found in field and verify SW solutions
• understand customer technology & productivity needs and feedback those requirements into software development
• prepare presentations to Lam internal stakeholders and customers travel worldwide wherever semiconductor customers are located (up to 25%)

Who we're looking for

• Technical education in Soft- and Hardware -minimum HTL /technical high school - electrical engineering, software engineering or similar
• Excellent Computer, troubleshooting and statistical process control skills
• Proficient oral and written communication skills in English
• Good knowledge of operating system principles and basic hardware capabilities

Preferred qualifications

• Professional experience would be an asset, but not a requirement
• Ability to establish successful relationships in a multicultural environment with external and internal customers
• Structured Working Style (attention to details)
• High degree of initiative, flexibility, and ability to work in a team

What We're Offering

This position is subject to the Austrian Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for Employees in the Metal Technology Industry in the occupation group E depending on educational background. A higher payment is negotiable depending on education, expertise and skills. The monthly salary is paid 14 times per year.
