Job summary

Lam Research Corporation in Austria is seeking a driven mechanical engineering leader to supervise a team responsible for design, testing, support, and continuous improvement of mechanical systems for current and new products.

You will coordinate with Global Product Support and Product Management, ensuring technical objectives are met and documentation is delivered. Strong English skills are required; German is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or equivalent is required with 2-4 years of supervisory experience.
• Strong engineering professional with experience in mechanical engineering or a related technical field.
• Team-oriented leader who can guide and support engineers in a dynamic environment.
• Experience in Automation Design, Electro-Mechanical Systems, Fluid Systems Design, Substrate Handling, Wet Chemistry hardware, or Testing is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support a team of engineers in executing technical and design activities.
• Manage and prioritize service tickets, including assignment, escalation, follow-up, and resolution tracking.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives for products, processes, and engineering workflows.
• Oversee design activities and provide supervision to ensure quality and timely execution.
• Coordinate issues with Global Product Support and Product Management.
• Collaborate with Product Management to align on requirements and feedback.
• Facilitate cross-functional communication to enable problem-solving and execution.
• Support development of robust technical solutions meeting quality, performance, and customer expectations.

The impact you’ll make

In this role, you will lead and guide a mechanical engineering function focused on the design, testing, support, and continuous improvement of mechanical systems and equipment for new and existing products. You will help ensure technical objectives are achieved through effective design supervision, evaluation of test and feasibility results, implementation of design changes, and delivery of proper documentation to relevant functions. By coordinating closely with Global Product Support and Product Management and by developing a strong engineering team, you will enable efficient execution, high-quality solutions, and ongoing improvement in product and organizational performance.

Who we’re looking for

• Bachelor degree or equivalent is required with 2- 4 years of supervisory experience.
• A strong engineering professional with experience in mechanical engineering or a related technical field
• A team-oriented person with the ability to guide, coordinate, and support engineers in a dynamic environment
• Someone with experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Automation Design
  • Electro-Mechanical Systems
  • Fluid Systems Design
  • Susbtrate Handling
  • Wet Chemistry hardware
  • Testing
• A clear communicator who can work effectively across functions and with global stakeholders
• A proactive problem solver who is comfortable balancing day-to-day operational support with longer-term improvement initiatives

Preferred qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• 10 years of relevant professional experience in mechanical engineering, product development, technical support, or a related technical environment
• At least 3 years of people management experience, with 5+ years preferred
• Experience with service ticket management and issue tracking systems
• Knowledge of product development, design review, and technical change processes
• Experience driving continuous improvement in engineering or manufacturing environments
• Ability to coordinate effectively with global support organizations and product management teams
• Experience in semiconductor equipment, advanced manufacturing, or another high-tech industry preferred
• Strong English skills; German language skills are an advantage

What we're offering

This position is subject to the Austrian Collective Bargaining Agreement for employees in the Metal Technology Industries in occupation group G, depending on educational background. A higher payment is negotiable depending on expertise and skills. The monthly salary is paid 14 times per year.

'Virtual Flex' you'll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
