Digital Realty operates data centers worldwide, including a Zurich facility where you will maintain and optimize critical electrotechnical and mechanical systems. You will ensure compliance with regulatory standards, procedures, and internal benchmarks, while coordinating with cross-functional teams.

You will lead on-site teams, mentor staff, and manage subcontractors, with on-call shifts and a focus on energy efficiency and continuous improvement across the site.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent technical training.
• Experience with cooling/HVAC infrastructure is essential.
• Strong troubleshooting and instrumentation skills.

Job Description

Your Role

As a Site Engineer (f/m/d) at our Zurich data center, you will be a key contributor to the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our mission-critical infrastructure. In this role, you’ll take ownership of maintenance and repair activities on complex electrotechnical and mechanical systems, ensuring full compliance with regulatory standards, operational procedures, and company values. You might also execute ad hoc technical projects as instructed. You will coordinate and supervise subcontractors, execute routine inspections, manage incident responses, and ensure uninterrupted services in alignment with SLAs and internal benchmarks. Your role includes on-call responsibilities, risk mitigation, and driving site energy efficiency and process improvement.

Additionally, you will provide leadership to on-site teams, offer mentoring and training to junior staff, and act as the link between cross-functional departments including customer service, security, and third-party providers. Through technical expertise and structured documentation, you will actively support Zurich site performance and continuous improvement initiatives.

Your Profile

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in mission-critical operations and maintenance of large-scale electrotechnical and/or mechanical systems
• Completed technical training or degree (e.g., Bachelor's in Engineering or certified high level technical education)
• Experienced with cooling / hvac infrastructure
• Proficient in troubleshooting, test and measurement equipment, and routine infrastructure surveillance
• Skilled in managing maintenance tasks and coordinating external service providers
• Solid understanding of BMS systems, SLAs, and energy optimization practices
• Experience supervising and guiding teams of technicians or engineers
• Independent, well-organized, and able to prioritize in high-pressure situations
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; proactive and hands-on mentality
• Strong communication skills in English (B2+); German is a plus
• Willingness to participate in a 3-shift pattern and on-call duty
