Job summary

All European Careers BENELUX in Vienna is seeking a Senior SQL Server Database Developer to design, optimize and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases, focusing on T-SQL, query optimization and performance tuning.

You will analyze execution plans, implement indexing strategies, manage ETL processes and support application teams with database troubleshooting and architecture improvements.

This is a contractor role based in Vienna with relocation for non-local candidates; fluent English required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in SQL Server development and systems analysis.
• Strong knowledge of query optimization and performance tuning.
• Experience with ETL and data integration.

Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize and troubleshoot complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions and views.
• Analyze execution plans and implement indexing strategies to improve database performance.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks using SQL Server Profiler, Extended Events and other diagnostic techniques.
• Troubleshoot deadlocks, blocking and concurrency issues to ensure database reliability.
• Develop and maintain data transformation and ETL processes.
• Manage database backups, security permissions, user roles and database integrity.
• Automate routine database maintenance, including index rebuilding, statistics updates, integrity checks and scheduled jobs.
• Support application teams and clients with database troubleshooting, root cause analysis and database architecture improvements.
