Overview
The Mass Spectrometry Centre (MSC) is located in the heart of Vienna at the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Vienna. The lab focuses on developing new computational and measurement methods and biomedical preclinical research, generating innovative bioanalytical tools.
Responsibilities
- Develop and strengthen shotgun lipidomics as a service.
- Participate in research projects and studies.
- Publish studies and present results at national and international scientific conferences.
- Contribute to project applications and acquisition of third‑party funding.
- Teach courses independently as defined by the collective agreement.
- Supervise students at all levels.
- Participate in evaluation measures and quality assurance.
- Engage in departmental and teaching/research administration.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in chemistry or related fields with a strong publication record in shotgun lipidomics.
- Profound knowledge of lipid structures and fragmentation rules.
- Solid understanding of mass‑spectrometry based lipidomics and metabolomics concepts.
- Enthusiasm for learning and applying new analytical methodologies.
- Broad experience in extraction techniques.
- Understanding of statistical principles behind current best practices in the field.
- Strong experience using R and Python.
- Strong communication, data presentation, and visualization skills; English required, German an advantage.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively and handle several fast‑paced projects simultaneously.
