Job summary

Alex Staff is seeking a Senior QA Engineer with automation expertise to join the Engineering team. The role combines manual testing with automation to deliver robust web applications across UI and API layers.

Initially heavy on manual QA, the position shifts toward a 70/30 automation/manual split, with collaboration in an Agile setting and evidence-based test management using JIRA, TestRail, and Qmetry.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience as a Manual QA at a senior level.
• Hands-on experience with QA automation for UI or API scenarios.
• Automation-oriented mindset and programming concepts familiarity.
• Understanding of HTTP, HTML, AJAX, JSON, REST APIs, and client-server architecture.
• Basic knowledge of SQL.
• Strong written and spoken English; able to interview in English.
• Ability to communicate in Russian or Ukrainian.

Responsibilities

• UI and API testing of complex integrated web applications
• Developing and refining test plans
• Writing and maintaining automated tests, primarily using Cypress
• Close collaboration with developers in an Agile environment
• Tracking and managing test cases using JIRA, TestRail, and Qmetry
• Identifying manual testing areas that can be automated for reliability
