AI is changing software development, and we are looking for a Senior Project Manager who wants to lead that change rather than wait it out. Someone who leads experienced international teams, works close to the customer, and already delivers AI‑first.

You work with people as much as you work on projects. You stay steady under pressure, communicate with confidence, and earn trust without performing it. You coach, you delegate, and you build teams that hold together.

You are self‑driven and always learning. When you don't know something, you find out. When something breaks, you and your team fix it. You don't wait to be taught what you need to succeed.

What You'll Do

Lead complex software projects from first scope to delivery, working with the customer and a multidisciplinary team the whole way. In practice that means:

You lead distributed international development and testing teams, and you know how to motivate them across time zones and borders. You build trusted relationships with customers and act as their delivery partner, negotiating scope and change requests on equal footing and holding our commercial interests when it gets tense. You plan and steer with both classical and agile methods, and you know when each one fits. You own budget, schedule, risk, dependencies, and project profitability. When the load gets too high, you prioritize, delegate, and ask for help rather than go quiet.

You don't need to write code, but you understand engineering well enough to hold a real technical conversation and to know how a business application gets built from scratch.

What We're Looking For

You run recurring project work AI‑first and make the method reusable, so the capability belongs not just to you but also to your team. You run status reports, delivery roadmaps, and KPI analysis AI‑first, generated from your project data rather than assembled by hand, and you delegate defined steps to AI agents whose output you check at the points that matter. You understand AI‑first SDLC: how to initiate and run a project AI‑first, how to move a team from traditional to AI‑first delivery, and how the roles around you shift as that happens. You handle customer‑side AI constraints with judgement — public versus sensitive data, on‑premise versus cloud, and what to do when a customer says no AI at all — and you can explain calmly how our licensed tools sit alongside their policies and the law.

You have extensive experience leading software development projects. A track record leading distributed international teams. You enjoy working directly with customers and building relationships that last. You like numbers and make decisions from them, because at Nortal numbers are a daily habit, not a quarterly event. Your written communication is precise, reliable, and professional.

You negotiate and communicate with confidence in German (C1). You are comfortable working in English every day and happy to use it. You are ready to travel occasionally for customer meetings and team gatherings.

Nice to have

Hands‑on experience with AI‑first frameworks in real project work. We know that deep hands‑on track records in this are still rare. The understanding is non‑negotiable and you should be able to show it convincingly. Demonstrable curiosity counts for more than years of practice.

Experience delivering fixed‑price projects and knowing what that means for your own P&L. Experience in the public sector. A history of managing risk and staying composed in a crisis. Experience responding to public tenders or proposals. A higher PM certification such as PMP, or an AI‑first / AI‑in‑PM qualification.
