Erste Digital GmbH is seeking an engaged Mainframe Software Developer to help shape banking IT applications. Work in a mainframe environment with Cobol/DB2, ADABAS/Natural, SQL, CICS, ISPF, JCL on zOS, while collaborating across decentralized teams and leveraging AI-assisted development tools.

You will contribute to secure, fault-tolerant software and modernize systems within the Core, Accounts & Transactions department, with agile practices and a strong emphasis on documentation and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Track record of several years in banking IT preferred.
• Mainframe development skills: Cobol/DB2, ADABAS/Natural, SQL, CICS, ISPF, JCL on IBM Mainframe zOS.
• Development of secure, fault-tolerant software.
• SQL databases such as Oracle and Postgres.
• Lifecycle knowledge: planning, requirements analysis, implementation & operation.

Our experienced team in the Core, Accounts & Transactions department is responsible for one of the largest databases of our company and 20 further applications, which are mainly developed and maintained on mainframe where large amounts of data and performance are our daily challenges. The smooth operation of our products is rounded off by fault analyses and troubleshooting, so that know-how regarding banking business is not neglected either. This means insights into practically all "corners" of banking IT through our close cooperation with infrastructure, George and payment transactions up to the DWH.

We are looking for an engaged and responsible Mainframe Software Developer to join our team help shape our applications for the future by building efficient and stable libraries and state of the art microservices which you will also get in contact with.

What to do:

• Proficiency in Natural/Adabas

• Comfort working in a mainframe environment and familiarity with decentralized programmers, as well as a strong interest in leveraging AI-assisted development tools.

• Ability to collaborate with decentralized programmers on an equal footing.

• Strong knowledge of application lifecycle, including planning, requirements analysis, implementation, and operation.

• Hardskills:

  • Track record of several years of work experience preferably in the banking industry.

  • Mainframe Development Skills: experience in software development and knowledge of Cobol/DB2, ADABAS/Natural, SQL, CICS, ISPF, JCL (on IBM Mainframe zOS).

  • Development of secure and fault-tolerant software

  • SQL databases (Oracle, Postgres, ...)

  • Application-Lifecycle knowledge (planning, requirements analysis, implementation & operation)

• Bonusskills:

  • Infrastructure (servers, networks, ...) and operating systems.

  • Operations architecture and application monitoring

  • Microservices design and implementation

  • Coding & modernisation with support of AI

  • Agile toolchain (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket/git).

  • Ideally, knowledge of the bank's basic business and its projects.

• We have to state the minimum wage for this full-time position in accordance with the collective agreement which is EUR 64.554,-- gross per year. But this is just a formality - we would be happy to talk about your actual salary expectation in person!
