A prestigious educational institution is seeking qualified candidates for Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor in Biochemistry and/or Microbiology. Successful applicants will demonstrate teaching excellence and a strong research background, contributing to the Department of Biology. The role is full-time with competitive salary options based on level of appointment.
Full-time, continuing position. Salary at Academic Level C ($141,247 - $162,872 p.a.) or Level D ($170,080 - $187,373 p.a.) plus 17% Superannuation. Based at the Bundoora campus but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University.
The Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor (Biochemistry and/or Microbiology) will contribute to and lead teaching and research in Biochemistry and/or Microbiology and related topics of the School. The appointment will strengthen the Department of Biology's research in Biochemistry and/or Microbiology.

The School of Science delivers excellence in applied research and education, engaging in strong industry partnerships and producing skilled, industry-ready graduates. It employs over 130 academic and around 100 FTE research staff across five departments: Applied Chemistry and Environmental Sciences, Biology, Food Technology and Nutrition, Mathematics and Geospatial Sciences, and Physics.
The School has internationally recognised strengths in quantum science technologies, advanced materials chemistry, catalysis, and water and environmental sciences, as well as emerging expertise in medical biotechnologies, geospatial technologies, mathematics, and food technologies. It generates around $20 million in annual research income and supports nearly 400 Higher Degree by Research students.
The Department of Biology is home to leading academics and researchers, addressing global health, agricultural, and environmental challenges. Research strengths include genomics, ecology, cell and molecular biology, microbiology, ecotoxicity, and immunology, with strong industry and community engagement. Programs are designed to prepare graduates for careers across academia, health, agriculture, environmental science, and biotechnology.
