About the role

For over 25 years, AR Developments has specialised in designing and building high quality turnkey townhouses. We are a vertically integrated company significantly different from our major competitors in that we not only develop land, we also design communities. To help us in our mission, we are seeking an experienced residential Senior Estimator to join the team at our Hemmant offices.

What you\'ll be doing

This newly created full-time role offers the successful applicant the opportunity to join our estimating team, playing a crucial part in residential construction projects that directly contribute to the success of our business.

• Prepare accurate budgets using real quotes and pricing, track costs, report, and work closely with our internal team and contractors to minimise issues, solve buildability challenges, and deliver cost-effective solutions with minimal overruns.
• Calculate material quantities with a high level of accuracy, review drawings and specifications, and design precise layouts to ensure compliance and buildability.
• Apply building best practice to review plans and designs, recommend smarter product options, create clear technical drawings, and ensure compliance with all current building standards.
• Maintain catalogues, review subcontractor quotes for cost and quality, and prepare supplier requests with all necessary plans, specifications, and scopes of work.
• Create accurate purchase orders, award them to contractors within timelines, and process invoices.
• Update templates with product improvements, cost savings, buildability solutions, and feedback to keep them accurate and relevant for future projects.
• Use our systems to manage reports, budgets, orders and catalogues, take precise measurements from plans, and keep project dates, workflows and timelines up to date.

What we\'re looking for

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Senior Estimator in the residential construction industry
• Relevant qualifications in construction, project management or quantity surveying
• Proven track record of preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates for a variety of residential construction projects
• Excellent understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans, specifications, and drawings
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve cost variances
• Flexible with excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
• Proficient in the use of Databuild, Bluebeam, Therefore and the Microsoft suite of products
