Job summary

PIDSO - Propagation Ideas & Solutions GmbH in Vienna seeks a hands-on embedded systems architect to shape reusable software platforms. You will work on ARM-based systems, FPGA/DSP, and security-critical features across antenna and radar products.

You will take architectural ownership from prototype to released product, collaborating with embedded, hardware, and production teams to ensure secure, verifiable, and maintainable platforms.

Qualifications

• At least seven years of embedded-software development with platform ownership or subsystem release.
• Hands-on ownership of security- or lifecycle-critical embedded capability (secure boot, updates, rollback, provisioning, device identity).
• Strong C and/or C++ experience with ARM SoCs, microcontrollers, RTOS, embedded Linux, or similar.
• Documented architecture decisions with trade-offs and verification.
• Experience in requirements engineering and linking requirements to design and verification.
• Ability to define hardware/software contracts and reason about concurrency, timing, and observability.
• Ability to improve development practices across design, implementation, testing, release, and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Own platform decisions covering startup, diagnostics, configuration, update, rollback, and lifecycle behavior.
• Translate needs into verifiable system and platform requirements with traceability to architecture decisions.
• Define interfaces between software, hardware, FPGA/ DSP, OS, and tools with clear ownership and compatibility rules.
• Evaluate processors, SoCs, OS, toolchains, and shared components against lifecycle constraints.
• Stay hands-on through implementation, prototyping, debugging, tests, and critical code reviews.
• Apply security engineering to trust boundaries, secure boot and updates, device identity, and provisioning.
• Lead design reviews and help engineers take ownership of platform components.
• Maintain ICDs and acceptance criteria across teams; improve handover to Production and Operations.
