Senior Data Scientist (Statistics & ML Expert)

If you know the difference between correlation & causation, have an excellent understanding of classical probability & statistics as well as state-of-the-art ML algorithms, and want to drive real business impact at one of the most recognizable brands globally, this job is for you!

In this role, you'll contribute to global Data Science projects to enable stakeholders to make better data-driven decisions. As a Statistics & ML Expert, you'll be responsible for the methodological aspects of Data Science projects in fields like statistical forecasting, network optimization, quality assurance, sports analytics, and more. You understand how and why specific Data Science methods & algorithms should be applied and know how to develop new ones. Always aiming for high-quality results, you can also develop pragmatic solutions when needed.

Your focus is not only on delivering (model) outputs but also on explaining and presenting your results to both technical and non-technical audiences. As a team player, you'll support the team and organization with your expert knowledge.

DELIVER PROJECTS AS PART OF EXISTING DATA SCIENCE SERVICE LINES

Support the team by managing, running, and delivering Data Science projects end-to-end, including project scoping, execution, quality assurance, and presentation of results.

STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT

Build close relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Your collaborative attitude and ability to absorb feedback will maximize the success of Data Science initiatives.

DRIVE INNOVATION

Propose new ideas and approaches to generate additional value for stakeholders beyond existing service lines.

ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Support the Data Science team with impact tracking, project planning, preparing materials, training, onboarding, and outreach activities.

EXPERIENCE

Key knowledge and skills for this role include:

• 4+ years of experience in Data Science; experience as a Machine Learning Expert is a plus
• Masters or Doctorate in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or related fields
• Proficiency in English; German is a plus
• Programming skills in R, Python, SQL, with willingness to learn others
• Data literacy to prepare high-quality datasets
• Understanding of Stats, Probability, and ML algorithms for business applications
• Technical literacy with tools like git, APIs, web crawling
• Presentation skills to communicate data insights effectively
• Stakeholder management skills
• Pragmatic critical thinking and outcome-driven mindset
• Ability to define and scope new questions and research directions
• Grit to see projects through to completion

Our actual package is market-oriented and significantly above this minimum.
