A cybersecurity firm is looking for a Senior Cyber Security Analyst to provide technical leadership and advisory support in protecting systems and networks. The role includes monitoring cyber threats, supporting compliance and auditing tasks, and guiding enterprise customers on security issues. Position Overview
Avertro is seeking a Senior Cyber Security Analyst to provide technical leadership in protecting the organisation’s systems, networks, and applications. This role combines internal security operations, customer-facing advisory, and leadership support for the Director, Cyber & Customer Success. The analyst will monitor and respond to cyber threats, support compliance and audit activities, contribute to secure coding and resilience practices, and provide guidance to enterprise customers on security matters.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor, analyse, and investigate endpoint, network, and application logs to detect and respond to security threats.
Manage and optimise endpoint protection software and collaborate with external security vendors.
Support audit and compliance activities, including ISO 27001, SOC 2, and related frameworks.
Assist in the design, documentation, and testing of disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
Conduct secure coding assessments and promote security awareness within development teams.
Perform third-party risk assessments using open-source intelligence and other tools.
Act as a security advisor to enterprise customers, responding to security questionnaires, RFPs, and due diligence requests.
Provide leadership support to the Director, including mentoring junior staff, contributing to strategic initiatives, and deputising when required.
Flexibility with working hours to support both Australian and UK customers.
Skills and Experience Required
Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
3–5+ years of experience in cyber security or IT security, including senior or advanced analyst roles.
Experience at a cybersecurity software company.
Strong hands-on experience with endpoint protection tools, SIEM, log analysis, and incident response.
Knowledge of compliance frameworks and audit requirements (ISO 27001, SOC 2, etc.).
Understanding of secure coding principles and software development practices.
Hands-on experience in business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, able to work across technical and non-technical teams.
Demonstrated ability to mentor peers and take on leadership responsibilities.
Previous experience in a startup or scaling product environment
Strong documentation skills and attention to detail
