Job summary

Frontify seeks a senior backend engineer to own and enhance a high-scale media processing path, including FFmpeg-based transformations and Kubernetes-driven services. You will work across Node.js, TypeScript, and C++ core within a fast-paced team delivering reliable media delivery at scale.

You will operate on AWS with EKS, Helm, and caching layers, while optimizing performance and costs. A strong emphasis on documentation, reviews, and cross-functional collaboration drives this role.

Qualifications

• Experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable backend and background processing services (Node.js, TypeScript, Go, or similar).
• Operated production services on Kubernetes with Helm, monitoring, and live debugging.
• Strong AWS architecture experience for S3, CloudFront, Lambda, and ALB at scale.
• Comfortable with Docker and Linux; able to read and debug native C++ if needed.
• Experience with media pipelines (FFmpeg, codecs) is a big plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and enhance the media transformation engine (FFmpeg) via Node.js and C++ core.
• Design and operate services on Kubernetes (EKS), Helm, deployments, and alerts.
• Work on async bulk-processing: job queues, autoscaling for spike workloads.
• Maintain fast and cost-efficient delivery with caching/CDN (Varnish, HAProxy, CloudFront).
• Participate in code reviews and document designs, decisions, and runbooks.
