Zusammenfassung

RetInSight GmbH in Vienna seeks a Senior AI Engineer (m/f/d) to own and advance the shared AI tool stack, enabling ML experimentation, analysis and delivery across teams. You will shape architecture, ensure security and scalability, and collaborate with AI, Data, Analysis and Software teams to deliver reusable services and automation.

The role requires 5+ years in ML/Platform/MLOps, expert Python, Docker/Kubernetes, and experience with PyTorch.

Qualifikationen

• Degree in computer science, engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum five years of ML engineering, platform engineering or MLOps with production AI systems.
• Strong Python and software engineering skills with modular architecture and APIs.
• Experience with Docker, CI/CD, cloud platforms and observability tooling.
• Knowledge of ML lifecycle, reproducibility, data and model versioning, security and regulated releases.
• Hands-on experience with PyTorch and GPU-enabled workloads.
• Familiarity with agentic systems and MCP servers/clients is a plus.
• Healthcare or regulated environments are desirable.
• Excellent English communication and cross-team alignment abilities.

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Senior AI Engineer (m/f/d) to own and advance the shared infrastructure and tool stack supporting AI development, experimentation, analysis and delivery. In this role, you will combine expertise in MLOps, software architecture and platform engineering to create reliable, secure and scalable capabilities that accelerate AI teams across the organization. You will work closely with AI, Data, Analysis and Software specialists to identify recurring challenges, establish common standards and translate development needs into reusable services, automation and self-service workflows. You will also help introduce governed agentic capabilities where they provide clear value. The ideal candidate combines strong engineering expertise with a practical understanding of machine learning, a platform-oriented mindset and the ability to drive technical alignment across teams.

Your Role/Responsibilities

• Own the architecture, roadmap and continuous improvement of the shared tool stack supporting AI development, experimentation, analysis and delivery across teams.
• Maintain the reliability, usability, security and scalability of the platform, including its core services, integrations and development workflows.
• Design and implement reusable services, APIs, interfaces and automation covering experimentation, model evaluation, data processing, inference and analytical workflows.
• Define and promote common engineering standards for testing, reproducibility, versioning, observability, documentation and operational readiness.
• Identify recurring technical needs and bottlenecks, then translate them into practical platform improvements and self-service capabilities.
• Partner with AI, Data, Analysis and Software teams to support adoption, troubleshoot complex issues and ensure the tool stack addresses real development and modelling needs.
• Use representative machine-learning workflows to validate platform capabilities and contribute hands‑on to model integration or development where required.
• Introduce governed agentic capabilities, such as MCP integrations and tool‑assisted workflows, where they provide value while maintaining access controls, traceability and human oversight.

Your Profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
• Minimum of five years of ML engineering, platform engineering or MLOps experience with production AI systems
• Expert Python and software‑engineering skills covering modular architecture, APIs, testing, asynchronous processing and code review
• Strong experience with Docker, CI/CD, cloud platforms, orchestration, experiment tracking, model registries, observability and infrastructure as code
• Practical knowledge of the ML lifecycle, reproducibility, data and model versioning, security, privacy, access control, reliability and regulated release processes
• Solid practical understanding of machine learning and deep learning, including model training, evaluation, inference, GPU‑based workloads and frameworks such as PyTorch.
• Familiarity with agentic systems, tool calling or MCP servers and clients, including evaluation, traceability and human‑in‑the‑loop controls.
• Healthcare, medical-device or another regulated‑environment experience is highly desirable.
• Strong communication skills in English and the ability to align technical stakeholders across multiple teams.

You can expect a gross yearly salary starting at EUR 64.554,-- (on full‑time basis, 38.5 hours/week based on the collective agreement) with the willingness to overpay according to your qualification and experience.
