Eversports in Vienna is seeking a Principal AI Engineer to act as the senior technical voice for AI, shaping architectural decisions and the technical bar for AI applications. You will mentor engineers, collaborate with data, security, and platform teams, and oversee permissioning, retrieval, and model gateway components.

The role emphasizes hands-on coding, strong English communication, and on-call readiness, with a hybrid on-site schedule in Austria.

Qualifikationen

10+ years engineering experience delivering production LLM/AI systems.
Depth in at least two areas: retrieval, evaluation, model infrastructure or data platforms.
Production RAG experience and on-call exposure.
Cloud experience with AWS; strong written communication and ADRs.

Aufgaben

Own architectural decisions in AI categories the AI Lead defers on.
Lead design and build of permission enforcement at retrieval time.
Design and operate the model gateway as platform-grade infrastructure.
Establish evaluation methodology, benchmarks, and ready-to-ship bar for AI apps.
Mentor senior engineers and run technical reviews.
Partner with Data, Security, Legal, Compliance, and Platform Engineering.
Contribute to hiring of subsequent engineers.
Operate AI team-built components and carry on-call responsibility.
