Job summary

Jumio is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer in Austria (remote) to design and deploy advanced biometric computer vision systems. You will lead end-to-end ML pipelines, focus on fairness, and optimize models for production using PyTorch, TensorFlow, and AWS deployments.

The role requires 3+ years in biometrics or face analysis, strong Python and CV library skills, and experience with Airflow and multi-GPU training. Collaboration with a global team and mentorship duties are included.

Qualifications

• Multiple years of industry experience in Machine Learning, with at least 3 years in biometrics or face analysis.
• Deep expertise in computer vision and biometrics, especially face recognition.
• Understanding of algorithmic bias in computer vision and practical experience mitigating disparate impact.
• Strong engineering: production-ready Python code with vision libraries (Pillow, OpenCV, PyTorch).
• Experience designing end-to-end ML pipelines (Data to Train to Deploy) and working with Airflow.
• Cloud Native: scaling training jobs on multi-GPU clusters and deploying services on AWS (SageMaker, EC2, EKS).

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of computer vision systems for biometrics (face attributes, detection, quality, and recognition).
• Conduct rigorous fairness analysis and benchmarking of biometric models across datasets and conditions.
• Architect, train, and optimize models using PyTorch, TensorFlow, and/or JAX.
• Own and evolve end-to-end ML pipelines from data ingestion to deployment; design automated pipelines (Airflow) for data ingestion and cleaning.
• Produce low-latency inference-ready models (quantization, distillation, TensorRT/ONNX) and manage deployment on AWS.
• Mentor ML engineers, conduct code/design reviews, and drive best practices across the Computer Vision team.
